For our December meeting, we welcome Dr. Aaron Sholders, Ph.D. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He will be speaking on the topic The Origins of Biological Complexity: What Would a Reasonable Person Conclude? Since 1859 and the publication of Charles Darwin’s Origin of Species scientist and non-scientist alike have debated and discussed two alternative and competing hypotheses for the origin of biological complexity.  Additionally, theologians and non-theologians alike have debated and discussed how these two alternative hypotheses fit within the biblical description of creation.  In this talk, Aaron Sholders, will first give a biochemical and molecular biology perspective regarding the debate on the origins of biological complexity.  He will then follow up this discussion with a short, yet informative, description of biblical considerations that must be taken into account when attempting to harmonize certain “scientific” theories with the biblical metanarrative.

Dr. Aaron Sholders received his B.S. in Chemistry in 2001 from University of Northern Colorado. He then continued his studies at Colorado State University earning an MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2003 and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2006. Following his doctoral work he was fortunate enough to be offered a faculty position in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology department at CSU and currently holds a position of Associate Professor.  He loves His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is so very grateful for the grace and mercy he has received in salvation and sanctification.  He considers it an honor and privilege to help others further their knowledge of God through teaching Biochemistry, its application to creation, and of course His word.

Please join us at the church in-person for fellowship and personal time with our speaker. There will be snacks and refreshments afterwards.

Meeting location: Little Baptist church

For those who cannot attend in person, you can watch the presentation live via the RMCF YouTube Channel.
