Mr. Rick Lanser: Science, History and the Bible: Friends or Foes?
When: Friday, April 10, 2015, 07:00pm
Where: 5900 E. Yale Ave, Denver, CO
Our speaker for April 10 will be Rick Lanser, Executive Editor of Bible and Spade, the quarterly magazine of Associates for Biblical Research (ABR). Rick also does research and writing dealing primarily with the first eleven chapters of the book of Genesis and the Noah’s Ark. In spite of a hearing impairment, Rick earned a BS degree in Medical Technology from Penn State, where he became a Christian, and had opportunities to share his faith with the Penn State football team as a student manager. After graduation he worked in the field of clinical microbiology, but sensed God's call to in-depth study of the Scriptures. He went on to obtain MA and MDiv degrees from Biblical Theological Seminary in Hatfield, PA.Â
Rick spent a decade working in secular jobs while waiting for God to show him the ideal place to use his Bible training. This happened in 1995, when the Lord opened the door for him to join ABR as a parttime staff member. ABR's focus is on biblical archaeology and creation science, and in this ministry he found a place that brings together his interests in both science and the Bible. The ongoing search for Noah's Ark has been a particular area of interest, resulting in several research papers presented at Near East Archaeological Society meetings. He also serves as a satellite imagery and historical research consultant for the American team, headed up by Dr. Richard Bright and Dr. Donald Patton, that is involved in field research on Mount Ararat in Turkey.Â
