Returning for our October 14 meeting, our speaker will be Dr. Ed Holroyd, one of the founders of RMCF. Ed was trained in the earth sciences, with a B.S. in astrophysics, Ph.D. in atmospheric science, and continuing education in geology. He served as a weather research scientist for 3 years for CSIRO in Australia. It was there in the early 1970s that he encountered the young-earth Creation literature, including The Genesis Flood by Whitcomb and Morris, and began his ten-year transition from theistic evolution to the creation understanding.
Dr. Holroyd served 31 years with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation doing weather and remote sensing research, retiring in 2005. From January 1999 to this past March he was an adjunct professor at the University of Denver, teaching graduate courses in remote sensing and digital image processing.
Ed has traveled 15 times to the other side of the world and to dozens of countries. That includes 7 previous summers teaching English in China. He loves bird watching, with a growing lifetime list of 1224 species out of the world’s ten thousand, regularly reporting his observations to Cornell University’s eBird web site.
Dr. Holroyd is one of the authors of the book In Six Days - Why 50 Scientists Choose to Believe in Creation. He recently taught a 30-week astronomy course for high school students of the Home School, Etc., group, with much of the material coming from Dr. Danny Faulkner. Ed’s topic for the evening will be will be “Biblical Astronomy.” Join Us! And bring a friend.
